post summerfest.... sad day................:'(

well summerfest went by very quickly.... let me give an accounting.

Sunday:
check in. meet my group. devotional. after devo we toured the HFAC. since it was my 3rd year it wasn't that interesting. but it was fun seeing people i knew.

monday:
auditions. i BOMBED mine. mine was scheduled for 9:30. the one that was scheduled for 8 hadn't gone by the time mine was supposed to start. all the practice rooms were full because of string players stressing (string players: i still like you but you over practice sometimes). i finally decided to warm up in the hall. but as luck would have it... they (the people in charge of summerfest) decided to have a dictation class for kids who completed their auditions. dictation is when someone plays some song for you, tells you what key its in and you have to write it out. well to do this it kinda needs to be quiet. well like i said it was held in a practice room. which is kinda not smart... so i started to warm up in the hall and someone came out and told me to wait for practice room. i had been waiting. and my audition was in five minutes! so i stopped. but turn finally came. when i went in my reed was dry. and i hadn't warmed up. :-( so it didn't sound good... oh well. after lunch results were posted. i was assigned to wind ensemble, which i wasn't surprised about, but i was on clarinet. i was also assigned to the 2nd big band. which was kinda a disappointment... anyway i went to the instrument office ( ok story time. to get to the instrument room you go down to the 2nd floor, which is the first basement, you go down a hall way and up some other stairs. so you end up going to the third floor again even though its not... does that make sense??) and got a clarinet. i went to wind ensemble and got some crazy music. one piece that we played alternated time signatures every other measure. so it switch from 4/4 to 3/4 then it had a section of 5/4 then a measure of 6/4 then back to 4/4 3/4 . that was only the first movement. the second (a waltz) switch from 3/4 to 2/4 then had some 4/4's and at the end it went like this: 4/4, 5/8 , 4/4, 7/8 then it repeated. hopefully i will be getting videos on here soon. but we got a new camera and we haven't figured it out completely. and we have some other music too. we also got music during big band. but i'll just move on. monday night we had a bbq then had a speaker.

tuesday:
practice and rehearsals all day.
then that night we had Dance!!! haha it was awesome. before the dance there was a recital from faculty members. it was really good.

wednesday:
we went to a silent movie. hahaha i love silent movies. we had a live organist too!! after we had free time. which was weird. we don't usually get nighttime freetime...

thursday:
there was the student solo recital. i had a piece prepared but during my audition, well, like i said: i bombed it. there were some great performances!! like a xylophonist and an awesome cello player and a way good violinist and a cool flute song and some other stuff... after the recital we all went to activities that we signed up for on wednesday. my friend and i went to play board games. oddly enough we didn't play board games we played this awesome card game called the totally insane card game (one of my new faves!! check it out at www.totallyinsanecardgame.com it is awesome!!) after that we played catch phrase music edition which was really fun too

friday:
the jazz concert.

there were some others too... but it takes forever to load..........

after the concert was the last dance and it was so FUN!!!!!!!

Saturday:
final concerts.

for the chamber concerts i was running all over the hfac to see friends in their performances.

my concert went well. i might get videos sometime. we got a camcorder and we're still not sure how to work everything.... so please be patient.

after the concert mom and drove home.....

now i have less than a year to prepare to go back.

to help me prepare for that and college i have started taking sax lessons from the BYU sax professor. this summer i am practicing 2 hours on sax. one hour on piano and half an hour on oboe. with other instruments coming whenever i can find time........ wow O_o

pre summerfest

WARNING: THIS POST HAS NOT BEEN EDITED. THEREFORE THE CONTENTS ARE SUCH THAT THEY ARE WRITTEN AS THE THOUGHTS CAME TO THE AUTHORS MIND. BEWARE. AND DON'T GET CONFUZZLED. basically that means that this post may be a tad confusing......... have a nice day!! :-D

so summerfest starts on sunday and there are things that need done.

1. practice
i have a solo that i'm practicing ( fantasia for saxophone by heitor villa-lobos) and i really want in the solo recital. hard core. so hopefully..... yikes.

2. pack
besides the obvious such as clothes, toothbrush, pillow, etc. i am taking my saxophones( tenor and soprano) my oboe, lots of my music, including piano music and my song that i'm singing in the next recital. ( i think that this is an excellant time to talk about that. my teacher who is very good had suggested that i sing close every door from joseph and the amazing technicolor dreamcoat ( who also did phantom of the opera) but my problem is that i like the musical (which is good since that is what we're doing next fall) but that song is not my favorite. quite frankly, its boring. so i asked if i could change. she said yes and then asked me my dream broadway role. well i already did it. i sang the phantom of the opera 2 recitals ago. so i was thinking and i came up with tevye from fiddler on the roof. so i am now singing if i were a rich man for the recital!! ok back to the point of this post: summerfest!! ) i might take my tenor recorder just for fun but idk. i got two new shirt today which i'm saving for next week. one says: you don't have to be crazy to work here, they'll train you. haha the other one just can't be described.

3. practice
the saxophone professor always asks if i can double on other instruments( he asks everyone.). so since i play sax, clarinet and oboe i need to practice them so if he want me to play one of the extra's ( sorry about my random tangents i get on but you may have noticed (if not don't be sad) that i am not taking my clarinet. this is because if i need to play the clarinet for whatever reason i can rent one of the college's and it will be way better than mine. bar none.) i will be ready to since i have practiced.

4. don't get overexcited
this is probably the hardest one. cuz summerfest just rocks!!!!!!!! there is one minor setback...well....i can't think of a better word. but my counselor from last year got married. and this is bad because he was the coolest counselor ever!! oh well.......... but the countdown has started. this time sunday i will be touring the HFAC ( harris fine arts center)
